Clubs/Activities

*Clubs listed below are all clubs on campus - after school clubs and Friday Club Day clubs.  List will be updated as clubs change for the 2019-2020 school year.

Here is the alternate schedule for our STEAM Club Fridays.

Art Club

This club provides an opportunity to create many different art projects.  It's the perfect club for students who have a desire to design, color, draw, and just show their artistic side!

Basketball

The Roberta Tipps Basketball team competes in the Mansfield ISD elementary basketball league.  Participants must be able to attend and be on time to practices and games, and follow Tipps' citizenship leader values.

Battle of the Books

This club is for third and fourth graders who read and comprehend novels on a fourth grade reading level and above.  Students will read and discuss five books.  They will compete at the school level and possibly the district level.

Board Games

Students in this club will learn about new board games and engage in friendly competitions with those games.  Students work to enhance their memory, problem-solving, and goal-setting skills.

Building Club

This club allows students to explore the engineering process by using a variety of building materials.  Students will design and create bridges, roller coasters, buildings and the like.

Chess Puzzles

This is a UIL event for second and third graders.  Participants will learn about the game of chess and must be able to attend competition on the first weekend of February.

Destination Imagination

Participants will engage in project-based challenges that are designed to build confidence and develop extraordinary creativity, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.  Participants are expected to attend practices and competition.

Math Pentathlon

Students play the Division II Math Pentathlon games to prepare for the regional competition held each year in March.  

Robotics

Participants build and code Lego Mindstorm EV3 Robots to perform tasks assigned by TCEA for the area robotics competition held each January. 

Run Club

Run club participants will run in designated areas around the school to prepare for a community run each member will get to participate in.

Scrabble Club

Participants discuss strategies for making words.  Club members play the game with different partners each meeting to prepare for a Scrabble tournament.

Spanish Club

This club is offered to second graders who are interested in speaking Spanish.  Club members learn basic skills including how to state their name, greeting others, colors, days of the week, months of the year, fruits, and vegetables.  

UIL Art

Participants memorize forty paintings and review twenty questions related to the elements and principles of art.  Members are expected to attend practices and competition in February.

UIL Creative Writing

This is a UIL event for second graders.  Participants are required to attend UIL contest during the first weekend of February.  

UIL Math

Students work to develop mental math skills and practice math thinking.  Participants should be able to attend practices and competition in February.

UIL Music Memory

Participants are challenged to think critically and creatively as they learn about music genres and artists.  They will acquire higher levels of knowledge as they practice for competition.  Members must be able to attend practices and competition in February.

UIL Oral Reading

Participants will learn proper speaking skills when reading a chosen poem using entertaining character.  The team members will need to be present at practices and competition in February.

UIL Storytelling

Members learn how to retell stories they hear read aloud.  They learn how to listen, comprehend, and retell with projection, emotion, and facial expression.  Participants must be able to attend competition first weekend in February.
